When Your Retail Enterprise Outgrows Its HQ Layer
As multi-store retailers scale, the gap between what a POS-centric HQ module can do and what an enterprise genuinely needs becomes impossible to ignore. Purchasing, financial reporting, inventory, and inter-store transfers all demand ERP-grade infrastructure — which is exactly what D365 Business Central delivers.
POS-centric HQ for multi-store
Store-to-HQ data passes through an intermediary layer. As transaction volume grows and store count increases, data integrity challenges can follow.
Limited financial reporting
POS-origin HQ systems are not built for dimensional GL posting, multi-entity consolidation, or Power BI dashboards — the reporting depth growing retailers need.
Direct store-to-ERP connection
Each RMH store connects individually to Business Central via x2x RMH BC Cloud — no intermediate layer, no dependency chain, no data drift.
Full ERP-grade command centre
Purchasing, inventory, pricing, transfers, and financial reporting all managed in BC — the same cloud ERP used by thousands of growing businesses worldwide.
Built Direct. No Middleman.
The integration fetches sales data directly from each RMH store and posts it to Business Central. Inventory levels, pricing, and item data flow back from BC to each store. Every data movement is logged, validated, and reconcilable.
From Each Store to BC
Sales transactions, returns, payment tender breakdowns, sales tax details, serialised item records — all validated and posted to BC as proper financial documents.
From BC to Each Store
Updated inventory quantities, pricing changes, new items, promotions, and purchase receipt confirmations — pushed from BC down to each RMH store on schedule.
Validation at Every Step
Each transaction is individually validated before posting. Failures are logged with full detail, never silently dropped. Every record is auditable and reconcilable.
Enterprise Capabilities You Never Had Before
When Business Central replaces the HQ layer, every BC capability becomes available to your retail operation. For most RMH multi-store retailers, this opens entirely new possibilities.
Power BI Retail Dashboards
Live multi-store dashboards — sales by store, by item, by category, by day. Trend lines. Margin analysis. The boardroom intelligence your operation deserves.
ERP-Grade Purchasing
Full purchase order lifecycle in BC — vendor management, PO approval workflows, GRN matching, cost posting. The procurement infrastructure a multi-location retailer needs.
Inter-Store Transfers
Transfer inventory between locations entirely in BC. Each transfer generates proper inventory movements, audit trails, and location-level stock accuracy on both sides.
Full Financial Integration
Every sale posts to the BC General Ledger with proper GL accounts, tax dimensions, and cost of goods. Month-end is a report, not a reconciliation marathon.
Microsoft Copilot AI
Ask BC natural language questions about your retail data. "Which stores are understocked on our top-10 SKUs?" — answered in seconds by Copilot, not a spreadsheet.
Approval Workflows
PO approval chains, transfer authorisations, price change workflows — configurable in BC with email notifications, escalation rules, and full audit trails.
Automated Replenishment
BC's planning engine monitors stock levels across all locations and suggests replenishment orders based on reorder points, lead times, and demand patterns.
Cloud Scalability
BC scales to any number of stores, users, and transaction volumes — no database size limits, no performance degradation. Grow from 3 stores to 30 without re-platforming.
Two Integration Architectures for Different Needs
x2x offers both paths. The right choice depends on your scale, your BC ambitions, and how deeply you want BC to serve as your retail command centre.

Questions We Hear From Multi-Store Retailers
These are the exact questions retailers ask before making this move. We answer them with complete technical honesty.
Data Accuracy & Reliability
How do we know our RMH transactions will be complete and accurate in BC?
x2x RMH BC Cloud fetches sales data directly from each RMH store's database using a validated extraction process. Every transaction is individually verified before posting to BC. Any failed records are logged with full detail so your team can review and reprocess — nothing is silently dropped. The integration does not depend on intermediate systems, which eliminates one of the most common sources of data gaps in multi-store environments.
What makes you confident the sales tax and tender reporting from RMH will be accurate in BC?
Each transaction's tax breakdown and tender type are captured at the source — from RMH's transaction tables — and mapped to corresponding BC tax groups and payment methods before posting. The mapping is configurable and validated during implementation UAT. BC then applies its own financial rules to produce the final posted document, giving you two layers of validation: the integration and BC itself.
We want to make sure our sales tax and tender requirements are accurate across all our stores.
x2x RMH BC Cloud handles per-store tax configuration — each store's RMH tax setup maps to the corresponding BC tax posting groups. Multiple tender types (cash, card, split tender, store credit) are mapped individually. During UAT, every tender type and tax scenario is tested against known transaction data before go-live approval. Your finance team signs off on the mapping before the integration goes live.
We want to make sure serialised items are being reported correctly.
Serialised item handling is part of the core item sync and sales posting process. Each serialised unit sold in RMH carries its serial number through the integration and posts to BC with the serial number linked to the outbound transaction. Inventory tracking of serialised items in BC is maintained at the location level, giving you full traceability from purchase receipt to store sale.
What happens if a store's sync fails one night — will we lose that data?
No. The integration maintains a queue of unprocessed records. If a sync run fails — due to network interruption, server maintenance, or any other reason — the records remain in the queue and are processed in the next successful run. Nothing is discarded. Every run's results are logged with timestamps so your team can confirm what posted and when.
Operations & Migration
Will our RMH Store continue running the same way at the POS?
Completely. RMH Store — the POS your staff use every day — is unchanged by this integration. Cashiers continue using RMH exactly as before. The integration works behind the scenes, reading completed transactions from RMH and pushing inventory and pricing back. There is no impact on the RMH Store POS experience.
We already have BC — how different is this from the standard RMH–BC integration?
The standard x2x RMH–BC integration connects RMH and BC through the RMH Central module. x2x RMH BC Cloud connects each RMH Store instance individually to BC, removing the dependency on RMH Central. This gives you direct data flow, full BC control over purchasing, inventory management, and transfers, and access to capabilities like Power BI dashboards and Copilot that are native to BC but inaccessible through a POS-centric HQ layer.
How long does implementation typically take?
Implementation timeline depends on store count, transaction volume, and the complexity of your item and tax setup. Our first implementation completed UAT successfully. We follow a structured implementation methodology: discovery and mapping, configuration and testing, UAT, and go-live. We recommend a free assessment call to give you a realistic timeline for your specific environment.
Can we migrate from our current RMH–Central–BC setup?
Yes. We have built this integration specifically for retailers who are already running RMH with BC (through Central) and want a more direct architecture. The migration path involves mapping your existing BC configuration to the new direct integration, running parallel UAT, and cutting over — while RMH Store continues operating without interruption throughout the process.
What if we want to keep RMH Central running for some functions?
This is a valid transitional approach. Some retailers prefer to run both in parallel during a phased migration — keeping Central active for specific functions while x2x RMH BC Cloud handles the primary data flows. We can design the implementation to accommodate a phased approach. The right architecture for your situation is exactly what a free assessment will clarify.
Is x2x an authorised RMH partner?
Yes. x2x eCommerce has been an authorised RMH partner for over ten years. We have built multiple integrations on the RMH platform and have deep familiarity with both its store and Central modules. This integration was built to serve RMH retailers, not to compete with RMH — RMH Store remains the POS at the heart of every implementation.
